38A Playoffs: Rebels vs Shack

08/18/2008
Who would have ever guessed that the Shack would be the #2 seed and the Rebels #3? The outcome of the 2008 season in the 38A division and the first round match-up (Rebels vs Shack)in the playoffs was also predicted by Nostradamus himself. Who would have guessed? The Bears would be on top of the division with the Shack not far behind in second, followed by the Rebels and then the Grizzlies. Everyone knows that the Bears can stop the Shack but no one else has been able to steal a win from a team whose average age would be old enough to play in the 45 & Over division. Without a doubt the Shack is a good team regardless of the average age amongst their players. Their key to success has been consistancy, something the Rebels have lacked throughout the regular season. The Rebels still believe that the Shack is not invinsible and that the youth and power throughout their lineup can conquer this Shack team. In their first meeting against the Shack earlier this Spring, that belief almost became reality but the Rebels surrendered an early lead and the game slipped so slightly through the laces of their gloves. In the second game between the two teams, the Shack blew away a non-existant Rebels team. The hope of beating the Shack at least once this season faded away and all the Rebels could do was to battle their way into playoff contention in order to get one more opportunity at the Shack. After ending the season with a very satisfactory 11-5 record, those eleven wins will mean absolutely nothing if they can not beat one of the two top teams that they have trailed in the standings for so many seasons. The Rebels key to success will be their offense and error-less defense. If the Rebels can execute both with a clear mind to that they can win, the Rebels will give the Shack a new meaning to the words "Upset" & "Defeat". First pitch will be at 12:30pm at D'Evelyn HS.

Rebels fans, bring every living soul with you to cheer on your team.

GO REBELS!!!!!

SkySocks forfeit final game to Rebels

08/12/2008
Although it wasn't earned, it was a win. Only seven motivated SkySocks showed up to the field and even though it wasn't enough to start an official game, the Rebels and SkySocks played anyways. Two of the Rebels opted to play on the same side as the Socks to make it an even playing field. The Rebels team was victorious anyways winning the forfeited ballgame 10-5. The game went 6-1/2 innings before time expired. With this forfeit of the Socks, the Rebels finish up the season at 11-5 while the Socks dropped to 4-12. Starting pitcher for the Rebels, Bill MacDonald, took the day off and instead played third base while Keith Lohsy took the bump. MacDonald rested up for his start on the bump in the first round of the playoffs which will take place in two weeks.

Rebels vs Skysox @ Dante Bichette

08/08/2008
With one regular season game left in 2008, the Colorado Rebels find themselves at 10-5 and in third place amongst the six 38A Division teams. The Rebels will host the struggling 38R Skysocks (4-11)for the season finale. Although the Rebels will be without a few key players in the lineup this weekend, they still expect to end their season with a win and a third seed in the first round of the playoffs. Although the Rebels are having a winning season this year, the team still feels that they have not done enough or reached their initial goal of beating either the Shack or Bears during the regular season. As expected by most ESPN analysts, the Rebels would lose at least three or four games this year with both coming from the two untouchables. The Rebels did just what the analysts presumed plus one loss to the Grizzlies in April. In order for this season to have any meaning other than having fun on the field, the Rebels would have to win in the post-season against the top two dogs in the 38A. Otherwise they will just be the third place team next to the Shack and the Bears. The Rebels have suffered a number of injuries this year including their All-Star Craig Hulsey (back)who never made it on the field this season. The "could've's", "should've's", and "would've's" are behind the team now. The Colorado Rebels are now looking to step up their game this weekend against the Socks. Although it is the final game of the season and a playoff spot already wrapped up, the Rebels will be in playoff mode against the Socks. Game time is 12:30PM at Dante Bichette field.

Rebels top Grizzlies 14-9 for 3rd seed

08/04/2008
(D'Evelyn) As of late the Colorado Rebels seem to be on fire offensively. They proved that this past Sunday against the Grizzlies by recording 20 hits to their account which manufactured 14 runs, enough to get the 'W' and snag third place in the standings before the final game of the regular season. Six of the Rebels had a multi-hit game with Bob Prashaw leading the way again by going 3-4 with one double, triple, 3-runs scored, and 4 RBIs. It was the six fielding errors by the Rebels that kept the game from ending in a blowout. With this win, the Rebels push ahead of the Grizzlies by one game to take over the third seed in the 38A division. With the final game of the regular season against the 38R Skysox (4-10), the Rebels could secure the third seed for the playoffs and a first round matchup against the #2 seed which is currently the Shack. Game time this Sunday is at 12:30pm at Denver Lutheran. (This game could be moved to Dante Bichette)

Prashaw, Rebels roll past Badgers 20-3

07/29/2008
(Dante Bichette)In week 14, the Rebels didn't waste anytime getting on and off the field to enjoy the rest of their Sunday afternoon to take care of house chores, drink a few cocktails, or enjoy a nice cool dip in the pool. The Rebels needed only two hours and fifteen minutes to recover from last week's Shack beating and in turn send the 38R leaders, The Badgers, home before lunch was even served. It took only five innings before the umpires said "enough!". The Rebels bats went to town on the Badgers' pitchers scoring 20 runs in five innings. Not bad in little over a half-day's work. Mr. Billy "Rubber-elbow" MacDonald pitched five stellar innings giving up only 3 runs and closing the doors on the rest to improve the Rebels to 9-5 on the season. Bobby "Bam Bam" Prashaw went yard twice accounting for a quarter of the Rebels' runs just with those two dingers. BP has three homeruns (1 grandslam) in the last three games. Pretty much everyone in the Rebels lineup contributed to the Sunday Slugfest. Defensively, it was pretty much all Billy Mac on the bump shutting down the Badgers with the pin-point accuracy of his fast ball and a breaking ball that may have left a few Badgers with some lower-back pains the next day. This win will set the stage for this week's upcoming battle for third place in the 38A division against the Grizzlies. The Rebels look to avenge their 12-8 loss earlier this year against the Grizzlies. Before this past weekend, both the Grizzlies and Rebels were tied for third. The winner of this game will most likely determine 3rd & 4th place in the division which could impact who will play either the Bears or Shack in the first round of the playoffs. The Grizzlies will host the Rebels in the noon-thirty cook-off at D'Evelyn.
